So here is perhaps my favourite view I have ever experienced myself. I did a ski season in Canada this year and was lucky enough to ski at 8 of the best resorts in Canada and North America. One of my favourites is Revelstoke in British Columbia, Canada.
Revelstoke is a pretty new resort and has only been open for a couple of years. The resort itself doesn’t really have much of an atmosphere or personality as it is still pretty underdeveloped. But the runs and the hill are amazing. It is one of the tallest vertical skiable mountains on the continent and is one of the steepest. It’s a skiers mountain, steep and long with great natural rollers and kickers to keep the park fans happy too.
There is a steep hike at the top of the highest chair lift to reach an epic powdery back bowl which goes into an awesome back country run. Beware of the drop though, as it nearly got the better of one of our crew.
To top it off, looking out from the summit of Revelstoke is one of the highlights of my trip. The view is stunning. I don’t think you could craft a better one yourself. You can see the entire town of Revelstoke, that sits on the banks of the Columbia river, that you can also see snaking off into the distance for miles and miles. Here we are over looking it.
The only view I can recall that came close to beating it was when I was on a flight to the UK from Vancouver on a clear day. Vancouver is a beautiful city surrounded by mountains. Flying over the Rocky mountains is truly awesome!
