When my friend first told me to come over and stay at the summer house back in 2008 my initial reaction was ‘ahh great some pokey little Swedish hut in the middle of nowhere.” Having experienced the rustic charms of Sweden in the middle of the winter I was at first reluctant to go, but its’ convenient location to the nearby town of Kopparberg with its famous cider brewery eventually won me over.
As it turned out my initial response was way out. The term ‘summer house’ turned out to be a bit of a misnomer, instead I found myself standing on the middle of a private islet, surrounded by a complex of buildings and huts, all on the edge of a stunning Scandinavian lake.
No wonder these Scandinavians are so laid back; it was utter tranquillity…
